Firt impressions of the new Y axis ballscrew are good. Several G0704 owners have had success with this same ballscrew. Reports show backlash to be between 0.002" - 0.007". There is an option of ordering oversized balls to reload the ballnut with if mine turns out to have too much backlash. More later

I have a very exciting upgrade planned for my G0704 Benchtop milling machine. I have just ordered the ballscrew to complete the y axis extention which should take me close to 10 inches of Y travel! I will be getting started in the next few weeks machining the head spacer and the column spacer. I will post pictures of the raw stock and ballscrew as soon as they come in.
